Eleanor P. Seward
, 80, of Havana, passed away at her home at 5:57 a.m., Saturday, April 25. She was born March 22, 1940, in New Berry, Michigan, to Adolph and Helen Scherpinsky. She married Tracy Still and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2003. She later married Robert Seward in 2007. He survives. Mrs. Seward is survived by her husband, Robert, of Havana; three daughters: Jennifer Brown of Virginia Beach, VA, Kelly Deford of Havana and Terl Smith of Indianapolis, IN; three step daughters: Gay Marie Kong, of Hawaii, Glee Robin Osing of Havana and Gwen Ellen Neal of Effingham. Also surviving is one brother, Dave Scherpinsky. She was preceded in death by husband, Tracy, ten brothers and sisters, as well as her parents and one grandson, Broch Nall. Mrs. Seward, also known as Ellie or Sue, was a long-time active member of Havana Church of Christ. She worked as a nurse at Mason District Hospital in Havana for twenty-two years. She was a very dedicated caregiver, taking care of her husband, Robert, as well as many others who had needed her assistance. Ellie was very young at heart and enjoyed visiting with family and friends of all ages. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, shopping, going on outings, and decorating. Ellie always went out of her way to make everyone feel welcomed. She was truly loved and will be missed by many. The family of Eleanor Seward would like to extend heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Ellie’s home healthcare staff, who provided comfort and helping hands, along with friends and members of the Havana Church of Christ for providing meals and prayers. Cremation rites have been accorded and burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Havana Church of Christ.
