Esther Leinweber

Esther Leinweber, 96, of Mason City passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020 at 3:50 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. Esther Irene Moehring Surface Leinweber was born May 29, 1923 in San Jose to Louis and Emma (Grube) Moehring. She was blessed with 50 years of marriage to John Surface who preceded her in death on December 23, 1992. On July 12, 1997 she married Ed Leinweber who preceded her in death on October 16, 2007. Esther is survived by two brothers: Henry and Louis (Erma) Moehring and two sisters: Frances Wiemer and Alice Jean Diers, and many members of the Moehring family. She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: David, Raymond and Donald and three sisters: Hazel Imig, Florence Stivers and Elizabeth Fosnaugh. Esther was a 1941 graduate of San Jose High School and was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. Cremation rites have been accorded and memorial service is planned for Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 11 a.m. with Reverend John Johnson officiating, visitation starting at 10 a.m. until the time of service at Cain-Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City. Burial to follow at Mason City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital or Mason City Area Nursing Home Activities Department. Cain-Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of the arrangements.
