Evangulia “Sis” Gordon

Evangulia “Sis” Gordon, 93, of Pinckneyville and a former Benton resident passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 17, 2019 at Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin. She was born in Canton on Oct. 16, 1926, the daughter of Mike and Zelma (McKinney) Orfans. She married James Richard Gordon on Feb. 9, 1947, and he preceded her in death on July 24, 2009. Mrs. Gordon formerly attended St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in West Frankfort. Mrs. Gordon enjoyed reading and loved to play golf. She was a former member of the Junior Womens Club in Benton. In her younger days she loved braiding rugs. Mrs. Gordon loved her two boys, Moe and Joe. Mrs Gordon is survived by one son, Mike Gordon and wife Norma of Pinckneyville; one grandson, Ryan Gordon and wife Jennifer of Clinton,MA; two great-grandsons, Henry and Charles. Mrs. Gordon was preceded in death by her parents, husband, by a son, John Richard Gordon and by three brothers: John, George and Steve Orfans.
