Willa Rae Wooding, age 79, of Forest City and formerly Manito, passed away at 12 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born to the late William James and Fern (Miller) Hodgson in Pekin on June 23, 1939. She married H. Dean Wooding on April 19, 1964 at Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin, and he preceded her in death on December 17, 2000. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Gary, Orin, and Richard Hodgson. Willa is survived by her children, Gregory (Jonni) Wooding and Kathy (John) Rogers, both of Topeka; grandchildren, Patrick Wooding and Devin (Kati) Wooding, both of Forest City, Andrew Rogers of Florence, CO, and Sierra Rogers of Manito; and four great-grandchildren. In her earlier years, Willa was a member of both Sweet Adeline’s and Melody Maids. She enjoyed canning, doing puzzles, reading romance novels, and she loved her big Yorkshire terrier, Bella. She was a current member of the Community United Methodist Church in Easton and a past member of the Community United Methodist Church in Manito. Willa was a processor at Herget National Bank, now Busey, for seven years, worked part time at American Distillery, was a homemaker, and a librarian at Forman Library for a number of years. In honor of Willa, a Celebration of Life will be held on what would have been her 80th birthday. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 23 at Maas-Hurley Funeral Home in Manito, with a Celebration of Life beginning at 3 p.m. Pastor Allen Payne will officiate.
