John Lindberg Jones
John Lindberg Jones, age 92, of Mason City, passed away at 4:29 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Mason District Hospital in Havana. He was born to Ira and Maude (Brockman) Jones on May 11, 1927 in Mason City and was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church. He later married Edna Juanita Hindahl on April 5, 1953 at the same church he was baptized in, and they spent 66 wonderful years together. John is survived by his wife Edna of Mason City; sons, Mark Edward Jones of Lewistown and David (Lisa) Hindahl Jones of Mason City; grandson, Nathan (Graciela) Jones of Beardstown; great-grandchildren, Rhueben Jones and Delilah Jones; and step-granddaughter, Haley Lyon. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Jane Nehmelman, Virginia Hovey, and Ruth Rohlfs; and brothers, Paul Jones, Herbert Jones, Kenneth Jones, and Jack Jones. John was drafted in the United States Army during WWII and was proud to be of service to his country. In his earlier years, he worked for Siebs Hatchery in Mason City and Armour Creamery in Lincoln, and was the owner of The Farmers Produce in Mason City. He began farming in 1954 until he retired and was a member of the Mason County Farm Bureau throughout his career. When he wasn’t busy tending to his crops, he loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals. A funeral service for John will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 17 at Christ Lutheran Church in Mason City with Pastor John Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be at Mason City Cemetery. Memorials in honor of John may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in memory of great-nephew Jacob Gordon.
