Huey Cravens
Huey Cravens, age 86, passed away at his home in Havana on Thursday, July 12, 2018. Huey was born to John and Bessie (Shadowens) Cravens on October 31, 1931 in Harco. In 1960, he married Juanita Gothard in Chicago. Huey is survived by one son, John (Anita Connally) Cravens Sr. of Ordway, CO; brother and Vietnam War Veteran Donald Cravens of IN; grandchildren, Jessie Cravens of East Peoria, Michael (Maxine Tyler) Cravens of Rocky Ford, CO, Able Cravens of Lewistown, and Rosanna (Dale Sherrill) Cravens of Havana; great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Bear, Serenity, Chloe, Troy, Christian, John III, BellaDonna, and Amaryllis; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, four brothers, one sister, and one grandchild, John Cravens II. Huey was a DIY kind of guy. He built his home with his own two hands and lived there until his passing. As a man of Christian faith, Huey formerly taught Sunday School in Southern Illinois. He was a 33rd Degree Mason, loved to drive and watch Western movies, and was an exceptional father that loved getting everyone together for family dinners. He was a Boilermaker and worked at both the powerplant in Havana and Powerton in Pekin, which he helped build. A visitation for Huey will be held from 12 – 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 19 at Maas Hurley Funeral Home in Manito. A graveside service will be held immediately following visitation at Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito. Memorial contributions in honor of Huey may be made to his family.
