Mary Catherine Schulte
Mary Catherine Schulte, 93, of Williamsville passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018, at Lincoln Memorial Hospital. Mary was born February 15, 1925 in Fancy Prairie, the daughter of the late Jessie (Hobkirk) Lake and Ben Lake. Mary graduated from Elkhart High School and MacMurray College. To further her education, she attended SIU Carbondale and Illinois State University. Mary married Herman “Sandy” Schulte in 1965 and shared over 50 years of marriage together. Mary was a loving and caring wife and mother; she deeply loved her family. Mary was the Home Economics Home Advisor in Menard County and taught school for over 20 years. She enjoyed judging 4-H cooking and sewing projects at county and state fairs. She loved to sew and read. She was a member of the American Sewing Guild, Land of Lincoln Quilters Association, Land of Lincoln Retired Teachers Association, and Illinois Agri-Women. She enjoyed attending a weekly library group at the Williamsville Library. Mary is survived by her husband, Herman “Sandy” Schulte of Williamsville, her children; Robert (Bob) Paul (Judy) of Fort Collins Colorado, Jayne Carney of Kirkwood Missouri and 4 grandchildren, Ryan Esper, Jessica (Esper) Neuhaus (Andrew), Sarah Paul, and Alex Paul. The family will receive guests at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg on Friday, March 9, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service officiated by Rev. Dick Piscatelli at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Williamsville. Those who wish may leave memorials in Mary’s name to Menard County 4H.
