Mary Ellen Beatty

Mary Ellen Beatty, 85, of Cuba, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba. She was born on January 24, 1933 in Schuyler County to Russell and Ruth Marquis. She married Carroll Beatty on August 12, 1960 in Rushvhille. They had 57 good years together and he survives. Also surviving Mrs. Beatty are: one daughter, Ruth Ann (Andy) Schoof of Cuba; one son, Mark (Jenny) Beatty of Lewistown; four grandchildren, Austen Schoof, Zach Zimmerman, Zoe Zimmerman, and Noah Beatty; one sister, Joann Stone of Mesa, AZ; two brothers, Robert and Larry (Sandy) Marquis of Rushville; and a beloved cat, Sophie. Mary Ellen worked at the Clayberg Nursing Home as a housekeeper, retiring in 1995 so she could enjoy her grandchildren, gardening, and camping with her husband and good friends. She dearly loved her “fur babies” as well. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Services and burial will be held afterward at 3 p.m., graveside at the Cuba Cemetery in Cuba. Kevin Stoneking will officiate. Memorials may be made to Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba.
