JoAnn Dodds

JoAnn Dodds, 84, of Havana passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 6:45 p.m. at Havana Healthcare Center. She was born on July 26, 1933 to Paul Sarff and Velma Blessman in Springfield, Illinois. She married Stanley Niederer in November 1954. She later married David M. Dodds in February 1970. He preceded her in death in January 1992. She was also preceded in death by her father in 1968 and her mother in 1996. Joann had 5 children, Tina (Rob) Deetz of Secor, Gary Niederer and Paul (Angie) Niederer both of Havana, Shaun (Brian) Beal of Farmersville, and David J. Dodds of Chandlerville. Joann had 14 grandchildren; Amber, Amy, Heather, Megan, Jessica, Joshua, Christopher, Nikolas, Sadie, Baylee, Madison, Bryce, Morgan, and Lauren and 3 great-grandchildren; Hannah, Haley, and Logan. JoAnn worked for the Secretary of State, Harrison Oil in Virginia, and Balyki High school as a bookkeeper. She served as election judge in Lynchburg Township and cleaned ducks and geese for 9 years. JoAnn was very happy to see the Chicago Cubs win the World Series. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Reverend Mike Hopps will officiate. Memorial contributions can be made in JoAnn’s name to Central Illinois Small Animal Rescue (CISAR).
