Muriel Lorene Kreiling

Muriel Lorene Kreiling, 97, of Forest City, passed away at 9 a.m., Saturday, January 6 at Heritage Healthcare in Mendota. She was born March 12, 1920, in Forest City, to Howard and Bessie (Tomlinson) Zimmerman. She married Ralph Herman Kreiling, Sr., on February 26, 1939 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on November 17, 1996. Lorene was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Evelyn Miller and Shirley Brown; two brothers, Kenneth Zimmerman and infant brother, Donald; one grandson, Scott; two great-grandchildren Dawson and Lennon. Surviving are one daughter, Kay (Ron) Garman of Forest City; one son, Herman (Shirley) Kreiling of Mendota; six grandchildren, Kirk (Monica) Garman, Kyle (DeEtte) Garman, Julie (Kevin) Zinke, Jill (Chad) Wujek, Jason (Jessica) Kreiling, Jeff Kreiling; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert and Virgil (Pat) Zimmerman; and many nieces and nephews. Lorene was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and was always devoted to the family farm, doing field work, caring for animals and raising a garden. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and baking. She was a member of the Forest City Community Church and the U R Welcome Sunday School Class. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018, at the Forest City Community Church. Pastor Frank Brozenec will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 11 a.m., prior to the services. Graveside services will be held at Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito, following the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Forest City Community Church, PO Box #31, Forest City, IL, 61532 or the American Diabetes Association. The family would like to give special thanks to Heritage Healthcare and Stonecroft Village of Mendota. Maas-Hurley Funeral Home in Manito is in charge of arrangements.
