John Leonard Williams, 85, of Havana, went to be with his Lord and Savior, at Havana Health Care at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2017. He was born April 3, 1932 in Iuka, Mississippi, to Robert I. and Minnie Elizabeth (Murphy) Williams. He married Norma Dutton Lofton on October 3, 1969 at the 1st Baptist Church in Havana. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Norma, of Havana; two sons: Jonathan (Amy) Williams of St. Louis, MO, John Williams Jr. of Kentucky; one daughter: Krista (Jeff) Wilcoxen of Easton; son-in-law Scott Adams of Clinton; six grandchildren: Laura, Jessica, Dustin, Daniel, Audrey and Karissa, as well as one great-grandson, Lailan. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kendra Adams, six brothers: Ernest, Climit, Jim, Clarence, Lester and Oneal as well as one sister, Roberta. Mr. Williams was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Havana. He served in the US Army Infantry from 1952-54. He was a Lifetime Member of VFW Post #6408 in Havana. He was a member of UA #137 in Springfield, Plumbers and Steamfitters Local. He was also a former member of the Chandlerville Lodge #724 AF&AM. He worked for the railroad for 15 years, before becoming a pipe fitter and boilermaker. He enjoyed working outdoors and fixing things around his home. Graveside services were held at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017. Rev. Matt Reeves officiated. Military rites were provided by VFW Post #6408 and American Legion Post #138. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church.
