Miles H. Davenport
Miles H. Davenport, 99, of Havana, passed away at his home at 6 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2017. He was born February 3, 1918 in Havana to James and Eunice (Sears) Davenport. He married Wilma Best On September 12, 1940 and she preceded him in death. Mr. Davenport is survived by one niece, Linda Bale of Quincy and one nephew, Bill Lynn of Davenport, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Edgar Davenport, and three sisters, Connie Lynn, Bernice Peters and Pauline VanEtten. Mr. Davenport was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Havana. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He was also a member of We-Ma-Tuk Country Club, near Cuba, IL. He worked as Sales Manager at Pepsi-Cola’s Havana Plant, retiring in 1984. Funeral services will be held at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 with visitation one hour prior to the services. Rev. Jame Hahs will officiate. Burial will follow the services at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Military rites will be provided by VFW Post #6408 and American Legion Post #138 of Havana. Memorial contributions may be made to the 1st United Methodist Church in Havana. Online memorial messages may be left for the family at www.hurleyfh.com.
