Body of Havana man retrieved from Illinois River

At approximately 1:15 p.m., Thursday, June 22, the Mason County Sheriff’s Office was notified by boaters on the Illinois River that they had discovered a male in the river.  The male was unresponsive.  Emergency Personnel were dispatched to the river included the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Havana Police Department and the Mason County Dive Team.  After determining the location of the incident, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police Department of Natural Resources were notified.  The deceased male, identified as Dwight Allen Sr., 70 years old of Havana, was wearing a life jacket at the time of recovery.  The Department of Natural Resources and the Fulton County Coroner are investigating the incident.
