Elsie A. Huey

Elsie A. Huey, 95 of Pekin, passed away at 5:37 p.m. Monday, February 29, 2016 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin.
Born August 15, 1920 in Bath to Harry J. and Caroline (Lane) Taylor, she married Z. Berwyn Huey on December 13, 1944 in Glasford.  He died July 17, 1991 in Peoria.  She was also preceded in death by six sisters.
Surviving are one son, Dr. Gary (Bonnie) Huey of Big Rapids, MI; five grandchildren, Steven Huey of Los Angeles, Amy Huey of Big Rapids, MI, Katie (Matt) Huey of Allendale, MI, Jason (Mae)  Huey of Grand Rapids, MI, and Ryan Huey of Kalamazoo, MI; one great-granddaughter, Willow Alice Fancher of Allendale, MI and one sister, Hazel Miller of Roseville.
She had worked for Sears Roebuck & Company for 26 years, retiring in 1977.
Elsie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin where she was active in the Concordia Society.  She had also been a member of the Sears Retirees Club, Pekin Hospital Auxiliary, an associate member of the Tazewell County Retired Teachers Association, and a former member of the Pilot Club. .  She was an associate member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Shalimar, FL.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin.  The Rev. Dr. Rodger P. Abatie will officiate.  Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.  Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Smithville Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
